Introduction To Algebra | Math

During this year, I have learned about fractions, decimals, surface area, ratios, measures and volume, percentage, angles, data analysis, rate and speed, and an introduction to algebra. Also, I have learned about the real world skill such as solving word problems, working in teams, asking critical questions, self-learning with Khan and being comfortable with making mistakes/uncertainty.

Throughout the whole year, one of the topics that I have learned and take away the most is learning pre-algebra and self-learning with Khan. When it comes to algebra it’s like learning another whole new language which is pretty tricky. I tried many different methods in order for me to understand by taking online courses about it and asking for help from my friend. Which at the end of the year I kinda get. By trying out whole new thing learning by myself in my free time, this leads me to another skill that I have taken away and appreciate a lot this year is self-taught. This year, I have been working on a website called Khan Academy. It’s a website where we can learn online and we can take a different quiz with a different topic. I used Khan Academy to improve my skill as well as when I have an upcoming test I use it for practicing my score. Khan Academy is easy to use and a useful learning tool outside of class. Not only helping us with education but it also helps me with motivation and the courage to learn even more advanced math lesson.

Personally, even though this year lesson is more advanced and difficult, I still think that it is very worthwhile for me to challenge myself to self learn and get to another level. Being able to understand algebra is very important because sometimes, we have to solve for an unknown number and analyzing slightly challenging math problem.
