Where Does Discount Come From? | Math

Imagine you are walking into a mall and you see a big piece of paper put “35% discount” but then you have no idea in converting and figure it out the price that you will have to pay, so that’s why learning percentage is important for everyday life. This round, we are learning about percentages. A percentage is a number that use “%” to express. If we look it in fraction way it is something that is in the hundredth place. One of the activity we practice percentage is using the SDG tracker. We have to go to the SDG tracker website and finding an increase or decrease amount a problem from years to years. Here an example of my work down below:

Material Footprint Per Capita in Cambodia:

2009: 2.46 tonnes

2010: 3.66 tonnes

Difference: 3.66 tonnes – 2.46 tonnes = 1.2 tonnes

1.2/2.46 = 0.48

0.48 * 100 = 48% increase

So that clearly explains that from 2009 to 2010 48% of the footprint per capita in Cambodia has increased.
