Old English | Literacy

In Literacy this round, we are studying old English and root words. My favorite root words lesson so far is “Express Yourself”, which is about Dict, Scrib/Script, and Graph/Gram. My favorite word in this lesson is calligraphy because calligraphy is one of the activities that I used to express myself when I’m bored. Besides learning the root words, we also have different activities such as reading articles about William Shakespeare, and we did a video which we choose our hero and create a fake exhibition plan. Early before we doing all this practice we also draw a picture and turn it into a mini personal narrative which I chose to do a poem.

This is one of my calligraphies

This is my personal narrative poem:

When I was in government school I hate drawing

I thought that it was easy

But no, not even a piece

Even a mini sketch of an ant

One day, there was a drawing teacher

He asked us to draw anything we want

I tried to draw but it destroyed all

And I wonder who created drawing up

5 minutes more he said

I was praying and trying

God, please help me I’m stuck

But there is no luck because I have to try

I opened my eye and saw four colors near me

There are green kiwi, blue, brown, and golden sun

I grabbed one by one and drew it all up

And finally, I did draw something

I drew a refulgent ocean

With sun nearly set into the deep tenebrous water

My wig flew away like I’m on the top of the world

My first drawing ever has visible

Drawing is not that hard

As we open our heart, the thing will get better

Just try and stay patient

The quiet gift will give you soon.

“How you draw is a reflection of how you feel about the world. You’re not capturing it, you’re interpreting it.” -Juliette Aristides
